So fresh and so brilliantly clean
You gotta wash your face and the day away!
You know it, they know it and well everyone is kinda doing it so why not learn about it?
Cleansing your face is the very 1st step into developing a skincare routine and actually just the basic more important step in the skincare/self care foundation.
Believe it or not, I personally think that the most crucial time to do this very beginning step is at night. Think of it as washing the day away. If you forget or simply disregard this critical step its kinda like throwing all those creams and serums in the trash along with good skin…. indeed sad but true.
Cleansing helps unclog pores and you guessed it cleanses your skin, which are very much alive and breathing, oh my. Your skin is basically in the battlefield all day long unless you are repeating 2020 again and are having yet another Netflix & chill marathon on the couch. Even then there’s dust in the air so regardless if you don’t step a single foot or 2 outside, nourishing your skin by cleansing is a must. Ok, now that I’ve put that there, the morning isn’t the most vital time to focus on cleansing your face. *gasp 🙊
Yea, I said that! Hear, well, read me out…You did everything in the evening so why repeat deep cleansing in the morning. (Wait did she write DEEP CLEANSING?!) Plus, at night, after your skincare routine, you go to bed, and this is where your skin has a buffet. Is it gonna be eating the dirt and debris that accumulated during the day OR enjoying a specific selection of ingredients that you purposefully feed it? Once you think of it like that and get it there’s no going back, and , you’re welcome!
A deep cleanse is your vital step in the evening while gentle rinsing with cold water ( followed by a toner) is for the morning.
Now, you can go about this a few different ways however I like to think of breaking it down to motivated and lazy girl days. Makeup days or makeup free days.
Motivated and makeup days consist of Double Cleansing.
Ideally I say start off with an OIL based cleanser of your choosing. I am pretty partial to what we use at the spa and absolutely love Eminence Stone Crop Cleansing Oil. Followed with a creamy or milky cleanser like Eminence Bright Skin Cleanser or the ultra rich Eminence Coconut Milk Cleanser.
The oil is gonna help with not only softening your skin, you’ll wonder if you removed it correctly, talking to my fellow oil/combo skin types out there. You have the option of putting it on dry skin or having your skin kind of damp after splashing it with some water. The oil will also provide as the best makeup remover! (USE Q-Tips for under and around your eyes to assist in removing eye makeup 😉) Once you massaged it around your face, very mindfully is the trick to ALL PRODUCT applications, you are left with the choice of removing it OR LAYERING the cream cleanser over the oil, its just a choice. From here I will suggest investing, (because from now on it would behoove ya to think of skincare as an investment to your self and skin), in a skincare cleansing device like the Foreo Luna Mini 2. There are plenty to choose from with Foreo and they come in fun colors and different sizes for different needs and budgets. Price tag still a bit steep with those devices then consider investing in any thing that is silicone based to start incorporating that lovely habit that will give back to you with clean and refreshed skin, seriously, you’ll become addicted to that feeling.
I will point out that a key way to tell if you have the right cleanser for the season is to let your skin breathe after using it. Basically wash it, let it dry for about 60 seconds. IF YOU feel like, I NEED some moisturizer or something right away, then, that cleanser is drying you out honey. It may be an amazing cleanser, talking about those foam or gels, during the summer when its hot as pelotas outside here in Tejas however as the season shifts into something more cold and windy the lack of moisture in the air increases our skin to dry up easier hence reaching for those hydrating and soothing oil or cream cleansers. And if you also share a fond affection for caffeine you’ll definitely feel dehydrated too in the transitions to fall and winter. It’s simply put, being aware of your skin honestly and, its ok if you don’t know what I’m talking about write now, point is that you are always learning and your skin will definitely evolve like our fashion sense, taste in men and what not.
Lazy girl and makeup free days are just more lax, you will double cleanse with an oil on either dry skin or wet skin, depends if you like to have your face damp really and then get this you wipe it off with a soft microfiber towel reapply the oil or cream 👀 and GO TO SLEEP. Rinse your face in the AM and you are set!
Thirsty for more? Cool, stick around and read other articles and lets put together that skincare routine in motion!! 👏
Cheers,
Davina!
